One way to look at it is this.. protecting premium surfaces like marble, stone or polished concrete, which can cost upwards of $100sqm with $2sqm corflute or $6 per board MDF is kind of like expecting a boy scout to protect a stockpile of toilet paper after announcing a lockdown... You might avoid defects a few times but damage is just around the corner and the impact is not just financial (as per below)

  • Remediation or replacement of the surface
  • Continual requirement for labour to replace cheap protection
  • Delayed schedule / completion
  • Frustrated clients
  • Distracted team members dealing with the avoidable issue
  • Frustrated site supervisor
  • Potential litigation
  • Loss of reputation

What the research says: defects can amount to approximately 4% of total build cost and represent around 7% of labour time (diverted from building)*

  • Lasts the duration of your project - avoiding requirement to repair or replace
  • Honcho products are engineered for the demands of commercial construction and unlike plastic, corflute & MDF - which have been repurposed for protection - our products don't need constant maintenance or replacement
  • Single application - avoid labour cost by installing protection once
  • Looks professional - our protection enhances the site presentation by continuing to look to good condition from start to finish
  • Fire retardent and slip rated - many of our product come with additional safety benefits - helping to keep your site safe and compliant
  • Reusable - given the robust nature of Honcho product - most can be used multipe times

How our products can save you money and headaches

*Defects and Defect Costs in Construction - A study of seven building projects in Sweden. Per-Erik Josephson 1998

Torn generic surface protection unable to withstand building site conditions
Generic surface protection not able to handle building site conditions
Damaged corflute unable to last the distance on a building site

Defects are a constrant cause of frustration for builders - but there is an answer and we think it's worth the investment

Poor quality window protection, shredded and torn.

To Protect Or Not To Protect

I'm out and about visiting multiple sites a day and a consistent theme I have noticed is whether to invest in good quality protection or not. This got me thinking about the age old question.....

To protect (properly) or not to protect?

We get it... the initial outlay for more premium products can seem a little high at the outset, but protecting with inferior products can end up being far more costly in the long run.

By choosing good quality products that are built to last, you'll save ourself time and money and ultimately, a lot of headaches!
